Before you choose any surgeon
- Confirm the surgeon's California medical license and board certification on the Medical Board of California website.
- Ask how many times they have done your specific operation and what their complication rates are.
- Ask for the full cost in writing and call your insurer about coverage and prior authorization.
- Consider a second opinion. Surgery is a big decision and a good surgeon will welcome questions.
